I'd give it a 9.
Graphics are awesome. Crisp even on badish computers. Sound is good. The music is not bad, though I like to listen to outside music. Gameplay is good. Interference is excellent, you can edit it to your likes. The controls are easy to learn. Moving is simple. Attacking/trading is easy as well. The community.... ooooh. I'd say about 50/50. You get good people half the time, and half the time you get... not as nice people. Get it. It r0x0rz /\/\y 50(kz0rz but I have NO BLOODY CLUE what that means. |

I'm sure there are a ton of other posts that could answer your request, so you should probably try searching/reading the forums first before posting. One thread you might want to check out is: Check out this thread

The simpliest, easiest way to put it, is that all the good things you hear about it are true. When you read an article or an interview, and it sounds biased, that may be, but there are no lies. No monthly fees? Sure. Hundreds of hours of gameplay? Of course. Beautiful colours, alpha blending, pixel shading, textures, animations, music...and most importantly - feel? Most definitely. Check out some reviews on google, and read all ANet, NCSoft, and fansites like guru have to say, because it's all true! I can't think of one thing that I could lie about to make it sound better (except the release date ).
EDIT: Rock My Sockzorz actually....lol |

Hmm although I'm no pro at giving a review, but I can tell you from my own cons and pros about the game so far. Remember "so far" I have only spent 1 bwe.
Just imagine everything that you start to hate about mmorpgs and love about strategy games like the card games (yu-gi-oh, magic, and who knows what else.) Umm actually cancel that metaphor. My honest review is this isn't just a quick action rpg, but you know its more action than sit and watch play style... err well. Like I said I'm no pro. The only thing I have against is being stuck to a particuliar body build. Otherwise believe me you will enjoy this game. It might be a little confusing the first 3 levels before you get the hang of it, but once you get a full team to start the first mission. You will be blown at how intense and exhilirating the PvE action. Just imagine that and for pvp times it by 4 times and thats how fun this game. If you play it for a month straight and feel you need a long decent break just take one you don't need to worry about paying monthly. Although I don't know every nook and cranny about the skills to find anything unbalancing. So far everything is balanced for me. So far it is just superb and beautiful about the fact that you've got every skills to combine together to create any type of archetype you want (assasin, paladin, dark knight, peanut butter and jelly err... just about anything) Well You've got the preorder just see for yourself so just hope that once you start playing you won't become a troll like me and the rest of us that linger on this board waiting for more of GuildWars. -edit- I don't mind repeating this over and over to anyone new to guildwars, because I just love explaining this game. Sometimes I have to restrain myself from telling it to someone that I just met. |

The graphics are... unbelievable for a game like this (GW > WoW and Everquest) The level cap of 20 (can get to it in 4 days if you play a whole lot) keeps the game fair, fast paced, and challenging while not restricting any content whatsoever. The PvP is extremely balanced. There is no "well the best class is __" in GW. The areas are "instanced" so that what happens in your world, stays in your world. If you happened to watch the world come to an end, you and your party members saw it, and no one else. It also keeps people from stealing your kills and camping NPC spawn points. There is a vast map to explore. Sure, it may not be as big as the map for World of Warcraft, but you will never be running around for 10 minutes without having something to do. The questing system is awesome! It looks at things that you may or may not have done and compiles them with things that your party members did and then generates the mission to make sense. Like if I saw Rurik die, then I don't expect him to show up in the next mission right? Won't happen in GW. Insta-Travel... If you have been to a point on the map (a literal point defined by a pin-head that represents a town or outpost), then you can go back to that point any time you want just by opening up your map and clicking it. I hate games where I have to run for 20 minutes to get back to a place and then run back for 20 more minutes once I've done what I needed to do. Cons? What cons? I don't see any cons... |

graphics are amazing, gameplay is sublime although it could use some tweaking, but its takin me sometime to become deprogrammed to the thought that leveling is what the game is all about. |

The Game: 10
-Graphics rock -Music is excellent, not some computer generated trash -Battle interface flow aware and well done In summary-The best of the Ultima stand alone series meets diablo for what I have gathered about diablo from those who have played. Chat interface: 4-5 add what I posted here http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...94&postcount=5 And really it depends what you are looking for out of a game. Many War Craft III players could comprehend how GuildWars works, WOW was the natural progression, basically "War Craft IV." GuildWars is a mold breaker so it comes down to you being ready for a rather drastically different gaming experience. A gaming experience that isn't built upon how well the game can capture your desire for tedium, but is designed to help your character become ready to face challengers from all over the world, or, be a great explorer of a vast uncharted world. Oh and how'd you like to be able to die and not lose anything? Just imagine being able to have reasonable armour, resonable weapons, and be comfortable in using the skills you have, within a month at worst from when you start playing, all without chopping wood, cooking swordfish, mining coal and ore, scamming, pk'ing in the wild, or having to have 32 quest points (runescape). And without trying to mine 500 iron ore to get timber vouchers you exchange with 3 million gold for a housing permit because you wanna get married to double your exp as it is so hard to get at level 100 (conqueronline) in a pk anywhere environment where all the elite people walk in to the mines and kill everyone there every 15 minutes. Game after game whether f2p or monthly fee they have you doing myriad tasks to gain the rite of passage through a cubed exp curve ( ) to kill the big game even if for at least 30 levels you have been stronger than what you wanna go hunt but just couldn't get to because of some exp counter somewhere, or, my favorite, having lost your weapon which destroys your ability to level until you replace it (at least 30k of gold) and you got 3 grueling levels to go as it is before you can wear some elite chain armour (50-450k of gold) so you don't die in one hit from the big baddies, which, if you don't have the "anti-dragon" shield, if it's a dragon, you'll likely die anyway, etc. etc. etc. All these wonderfully designed lemming makers are non-existent in GuildWars. It's designed around the player having fun, to have fun beause of what you can do now and the missions you help you become better right from the start. Another reason the game is a 10 for sure. Please see also this article to help you getting up to level 10 in GuildWars: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/content...-10-id1195.php Sorry for the book all just got into it, you all know how the game and its philosophy pulls you in, probably alot better than I do. |

Every review posted now will be obsolete upon the game's release date.
If you like the interface, for example, it might be changed. If you think the game lacks feature X, it might be added. WonderBread, I'd just reccomend you to read the FAQs here on GWGuru and on GW's website and see if you like the game mechanics. ArenaNet has developed a unique streaming technology so Guild Wars will be constantly evoloving (at least that's what ArenaNet promise). |

It is a MMORPG for the rest of us. That is, for the people who either don't have the patience or money for the traditional MMORPG's.
If you want a second life to spend the 8 hours a day where you don't sleep or work, get a traditional MMORPG. They are designed for you. With Guild Wars, you would run out of content before the next extension pack is released. If you want some quick MMORPG-like action without the boring part, when you have half an hour to spare, get Guild Wars instead. It should keep you entertained at least till the next expansion pack. And then there is the PvP... It is fun even for people like me who usually are just to PvE. Since I'm not a PvP person, I can't comment further on that. Maybe we can say that it combines the character variety of a RPG with the tactics of a FPS. In any case, Guild Wars trying to create a new niche in the game world. Thus, Guild Wars is the best game of its kind, on merit of being the only game of its kind. The remaining question is if it is a niche for you. |

I'd rate it more of a 7 myself.
The graphics are 'ok'. I have absolutely no problems with the graphics but they don't blow me away either. The interface is bad, its clunky at best and honestly if I had to rate it 1 to 10(10 being highest) I'd give the interface a 2 or 3. Hopefully they'll open it up a bit and let people mod the interface because in general the interfaces made by players are always better than those made by designers. No idea why. The PvE is boring, luckily there isn't a whole lot of it so its not all that painful. The PvP is great, this is really the reason to get the game. If you are not a pvp type I just don't really see a reason to buy the game. If you are a pvp type then there is absolutely no reason not to buy this game. Its a blend of RTS and MMORPG and I love it. I am pretty sure your sig is out of spec with this forum .. check it out cuz you may have it removed by the admins.
The game is a 10. I have yet to find something I do not like about it. I have played the last two BWE's. I love the game. |

Graphics- 10
Music- 8 Gameplay- 10 Community- 9 Balance- 10 Plot- N/A (There are supposed to be almost three times and many missions in retail, so I won't say.) Replay Value- 10 All That Little Crap No One Cares About- 9 Overall: 9.75 It's a very solid game and I think will revoulutionize online gaming. I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing some 'CORPGS' in the near future. But otherwise this game needs some tweaks here and there. I think we should all pray to ArenaNet every time we play GW, I do. Thanks ArenaNet! |

Captain Obvious here again - don't you find it inherently wrong to ask for 'honest' opinions from members of a GW fan forum?
You said it yourself that you'll be buying the game anyway, if you haven't yet pre-ordered then do so now, and see the game for yourself come next BWE. As Death at the Door has already mentioned, any reviews now are futile, since you need a 'completed' game before you can start reviewing anyway. Edit: whoops, ignore the first bits of the 2nd paragraph, didn't notice you already posted that you have pre-ordered. Last edited by HotSnack; Apr 06, 2005 at 12:51 AM // 00:51.. |

I would give it a 9.
Only reason it didn't get a 10, is because my game quits at random points. If it weren't for this, I'd give it a 10, but i'll still be purchasing the game. The graphics are amazing Excellent Storyline Pvp, GvG, PvE fighting good variety of skills, professions, pets, etc. No monthly bill. |
